Mosiacs' first raffle quilt winner

Congratulations Janet Adduci the winner of our first Mosaic quilt raffle. On Saturday March 7th at our monthly quilt group, we gathered around the raffle box and watched as Diana pulled out winning ticket. We were all nervous as Diana read the name on the ticket, Janet Adduci. It took almost a week to get a hold of Janet. She is one busy lady. After a couple of days of phone tag we were able to connect with Janet and let her know she had the winning raffle ticket. She was somewhat shocked and excited to find out that she was the winner of the beautiful purple, fuchsia, blue and lavender Pinwheel raffle quilt. Diana and I presented the quilt to Janet on Sunday March 15th 2009. Even as we handed over the quilt, Janet still seemed to be a bit surprised that she was in fact the winner of the raffle quilt.

Thanks to the generosity of those who gave of their precious time to create such a beautiful quilt and those who purchased raffle tickets, the quilt raffle raised $585.00 for some precious families at Harvey Scott School.
Diana and I are so blessed to have been a part of something bigger than ourselves. Together we can make a difference in peoples lives, one quilt at a time.

Our First Mosaic Quilt

The pinwheel quilt in blues, fuchsia, purple and red. This started out as a quilt to show off the fabric from Diana's mothers stash, I gave her a stack of royal colors and she just took off. Diana cut out all of the fabric and placed each block in separate plastic bags. When we gather for quilting once a month, each quilter can grab a bag and all the pieces are in the bag and ready for construction. Diana and I together with Camie chose, cut, and pieced the sashing. Each of us had very definite ideas about color and how to use it; contrast it, or blend it. I love collaborating. Just look what comes from great minds working together. Camie, Diana, you Rock!
A huge Thank You to our very own Long arm quilter, Debbie Cottingham, without you our quilt would just be 3 layers of fabric.
This quilt took our group over a year to complete, however we learned at lot about ourselves and our quilters along the way. Not everyone who comes, comes to quilt, or wants to work on the community quilt... which is OK. Not all who come are quilters. We gather to together, to encourage one another.

Under Construction

I am so excited to get this blog underway. We are currently under construction and are working diligently to finish and be completely up and running by February 16th.

I will be loading our current projects, as well as the quilt that we are currently raffling off in the greater Portland area. The specks of the quilt as well as the tickets will be available soon.

Sunday, February 8, 2009

Welcome to Mosaic Quilters blog. I apologize for the way we look. Currently we are under construction and hope to be completely up and running by February 15, 2009. Please feel free to leave a comment or question as we are excited to get our name out there in the quilting community. We are gathering for the second time this year on Valentines day. We usually meet as a group on the first Saturday of the months from October through June, however, because of building use conflicts our group will be meeting on the second Saturday, on this February 14th, at our regular meeting time, 9am to 1:30pm. We gather at Mosaic Church located at 1832 NE 39th, PDX.

As a group we just finished our first quilt and are in the process of raffling it off in the greater Portland area. I will be posting some pics of this beautiful quilt.
